Tongariro Junction is set on a spacious and secure 9.5acre site close to town centre and our wide variety of accommodation styles offers flexibility to the independent traveller while also offering family-friendly facilities including a children's playground, making it a great option for travellers of all ages. Stretch your legs after a long journey and take a short walk to the town centre where you’ll find a variety of shops, cafés, and restaurants to enjoy during your stay.
Turangi is the northern gateway to the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site, Tongariro National Park, home of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, making us the ideal base for exploring the region’s natural wonders. No matter the season, whether you're planning to hike, ski, fish, horse ride, white-water raft, or mountain bike, you'll be just moments away from it all. Ideally located at the southern end of Lake Taupō, where the world famous Tongariro River feeds New Zealand’s largest lake, Lake Taupō, Tongariro Junction is a natural choice for a stopover. We are located approximately halfway between Auckland and Wellington, and just 40 minutes from Taupō township.
